Q. The computer will not boot from CD-ROM

A.  Occasionally you will find older machines that just don't seem to be able to boot using the CD-ROM drive. This is why it is important that we understand how to install windows "the long way" by using start up disks.

Check the obvious first is the actual CD-ROM Disc ok, and the BIOS is set correctly.  Try another bootable disc.

Sometimes the problem can be resolved by changing the location of the drive, for example move it from Primary Slave to Secondary Master.

You also need to find out if it is the drive or the motherboard causing the error, to do this try another CD-ROM drive. Unfortunately this is about all we can do to test the configuration.

As a long shot it could also be the IDE Cable
