Q.  The computer works and I've installed an operating system, but on start-up it (post) says Hard Drive capable but disabled, what does this mean?

A.  I'm not sure what this means, are you sure it doesn't say SMART
capable but disabled?

If so don't worry SMART means Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology.

It just means that the Hard drive can monitor itself to detect
failures. I have seen this lots of times and never bothered with it.
Don't worry about it just carry on.
