Q.  How do I upload a webpage?

A.  Publishing the Website depends how you want to do it. Some ISP's
offer free webspace, so the domain name will be a subdomain and
something like

www.YOU.ISP.co.uk

Unfortunately I don't know your ISP so I don't know if they do the
free Webspace or not. The other way is to purchase a name and some
Webspace. I use www.supanames.co.uk You can get good packages for
around £50 and even cheaper if you shop around.

You will then get a proper domain name, something like:

www.YOU.co.uk

Uploading is easy, I would recommend using Internet Explorer as
Netscape is not as good for this.

After purchase (or getting it free from ISP) you will get a username
and password.

We upload files using FTP (file transfer protocol), to do this lets
use YOU.co.uk as an example.

Open internet explorer and in the address bar type, replace USERNAME
with the name they give you (make sure you delete everything in the
address bar first including the http://):

ftp://USERNAME@FTP.YOU.co.uk

You will then be asked your password.

(if it's a Unix Server you may find a folder called public-html, open this)

Once in simply copy and paste the files as if you were using Windows normally.

Make sure the home page is called either index or default and your away
