Unit 01 begins with a gentle introduction to the basic computer hardware components, such as the CPU, RAM and Motherboard. We then look at assembling and configuring these components, eventually building a basic computer system. The BIOS is discharged and reprogrammed manually before MS-DOS is installed and some basic commands are covered. The computer is then stripped and re-built, this time adding a CD/DVD ROM drive before preparing for the installation of Microsoft Windows. Both Windows XP & Vista installations are covered, along with a basic overview of each Operating System. We then examine the process of installing drivers and suggest possible strategies should problems occur. For those without the required hardware, video and simulations are supplied, check the FREE DEMO for details.
