Step 1 - Choosing a study method
After reading the information on this site, or calling us on 01482 715152, you should think about the study method that suits you best.
You can study from home using a Interactive home study kit with videos and OTeSS Simulations, or even choose the Deluxe home study kit which also includes a brand new computer base unit as well as tools.
All home study courses are supplied with an email tutor who will help guide you every step of the way.
The course has no entry requirement or age restrictions.
When you have received your interactive coursework you should follow the "getting started guide", this will firstly instruct you how to register with your tutor. You will then use the course interface to start the first task of the course. You are first given an outline as to what the task entails and details of what the outcome will be. The tasks are presented in Videos and realistic OTeSS Simulations. You are also given the option to print out the task giving you the opportunity to create a manual you can easily refer back to at anytime.
When instructed by your task an assessment must be completed. For the self assessment the computer will present you with a number of questions in different formats, this will allow you to monitor your performance so far. You will then contact your tutor with your results. Tutors provide expert advice and extra materials should you need them to help clarify any areas you are unsure of. You then move on to the next task. Before thinking of entering any final assessments you should be getting at least 85% on your assessments
Step 3- Final Assessment
When complete you will need to sit your final assessments. Final assessments are held regularly at various venues around the country. You tutor will help find a suitable date and venue. An assessment is usually booked at least 2 weeks in advance to give suitable revision time. You will also be given revision advice and preparation techniques by your tutor. The cost of the final assessment is £89, this is paid on the day of assessment to the centre you attend.
The final assessment consists of three one hour written papers. The questions are a mixture of multiple choice and short answer technical questions. You will be tested on the content of the coursework you have received, there are no hidden surprises.
Should you score an overall of 75% or above you shall receive Official BTEC Certification.
The exams can be re-sat as many times as necessary until the pass mark is reached
